Holiday season I Remember

Back in 1978 I was on CQ (Charge of Quarters). It was Christmas Day, I was single so it was not a big deal. About 1 pm the Battalion Chaplin came in with a couple of package that he was giving to all who was on duty that day. Nice thought, writing paper, pens that sort of stuff. I still remember every Christmas how it brightened my day.

Christmas morning of 04 I was deployed to Qatar and lonely as could be. I had just talked to my wife and baby on the phone . I was walking back to the barracks with my head down when I passed a young lady who said Merry Christmas with a smile.. That little dab of cheer brightened the rest of my day.
