Went out fishing on Saturday. Talked so much about metal detecting that we had to go out for an hour after we got back.
Showed my fishing buddy the old 1800’s Hitchcock site. Only spent about 10 minute there as it is in the woods and we were getting attacked by mosquitoes. Nate did find the copper ring there. Interesting find. Went to our hunted out school and found 3 wheats. I also found the gold plated ring(middle ring in pic). It has Chinese writing on the inside.
Memorial day we got up early to beat the heat and crowds. Checked out some new sites. The first one I was not crazy about and we left after about ½ hour(found one older wheat penny and a few coins). My son was not happy and was giving me a little admonishment about how impatient I am.
Well it proved to be the right move as we found 3 silvers, a bunch of clad and several wheats at the next site.
The silver coins were deep(6-7 inches) and we might not have dug them if we hadn’t found some wheat pennies. Was about 87 by noon so we quit then.
