That's pretty fancy Jhar!

I bet it would cut through some roots good, too!

Ingenious design thanks for the tip. What exactly is the cup? And I am curious how you would get a tight plug of dirt out of the cup.

Cheers,
Bill

Hey Bill, its actually a piece of tailpipe I got from Autozone, notice the black knob on top, its screwed onto a shaft with a plunger (washer) on the other end. So when I get a plug of dirt I flip it, knob to the ground and push down and the plug comes out, just like the others sold online.

Hey that is even a cooler idea, I like it thanks again for the tip.

Bill

I had made one just like this back in 1986, worked very well.

Made one out some galvanized steel with a 6" dia. Needed a sherpa to pack it in to the local park.

This is one of my plug cutter ideas that is not so good.
I got another that is just a bit bigger.
They are made from a stainless starter for exhaust pipe on a muffler.
Step on it and it cuts down, easily when I sharpened the other one!
...Still need a trowel to pop the plug out.
