An Ohio woman held a would-be burglar at gunpoint until police arrived, warning him, “if you move, you’re gonna go to the morgue.”

Tammy Takach of Steubenville was sleeping Thursday morning when a noise in her home woke her up. She told WPXI-TV she grabbed her gun and went downstairs to find an intruder who’d entered through a window holding an air conditioning unit. He begged her not to call the police.

“He stood up and put his hands up,” Takach told WTOV-TV. “He said, ‘I’m just going to go. I’m sorry,’ and I said, ‘The only place you’re going to go is jail, and if you move, you’re gonna go to the morgue, because I’m going to blow your f-ing head off.”

Takach kept the gun aimed at him the entire time until police arrived. Upstairs, Takach’s son was still asleep, completely unaware of what was happening.

Ryan Geary, 23, was arraigned Friday on charges of burglary and possessing criminal tools. If convicted, he could face up to nine years in prison.

Takach’s husband, Anson, said the family owns multiple firearms but that it was the first time his wife ever had to use one in a situation like that.

“We go to the range as much as we can. We own a lot of firearms,” Anson Takach told WTOV. “I’ve had extensive training with firearms, so I teach her and my son how to be responsible and to remain calm in situations like that.”

:laughing9:Thats almost as good as "I dont want to kill you and you dont want to be dead"

Giving a verbal warning is a good thing, until you have to take several different language courses.:dontknow:

The other .1 % is the first round in the kneecap....

" Due to the recent ammo shortage, warning shots will no longer be fired, thank you for your understanding"

No, you wouldn't want to kneecap them - opens you up to a lawsuit with plenty liberal lawyers in this country.

Kinda like the one in Readers digest. "Friend for the world I would do thee no harm, but thou standest where I am about to shoot"

Thing is, he said he was going to leave. That should have given him a free ticket to just walk out of the house, right? I mean, he was not a physical threat to her anymore and, if you can believe anyone, it's the guy that was just about to rob you. I think he has a good case and can probably sue. Heck, just the sight of a gun scared him so bad he will have nightmares forever. People need to realize how traumatic it is to have a gun pointed at you. They need to remove guns from this home because they obviously aren't responsible people that can be trusted with guns.

What so...... if someone robs someone, rapes someone, asaults someone and then just leaves it is ok? Breaking and entering is a crime, attempted robbery is a crime.... What are you trying to say?

He is being sarcastic, but the reality is that you are only justified in shooting if the person is an immediate threat. If they shoot someone in your family, then throw the gun out of reach, you are not justified in shooting them.

Not in my state or many others PA is a castle state you came in you obviously mean harm. Leathal force is authorized. Car, jacker same. Your property is your castle. Car, home, body, motorcycle boat.

I got shot in the butt once(I was 12) for stealing a watermelon. That was kind of traumatic too and cured me of produce shopping after dark. By the way-LAWSUIT? We have a little law in Texas that says if they're messing with your stuff(inside or outside)it's target practice with no penalty time. But I would have escorted him to the porch and then whacked him there. No sense staining the carpet and waking the kids...

If he said he was leaving, shoot the only witness to that statement. Case closed!

Florida has a "stand your ground law", if someone breaks into your home, car or threatens you or your family or a citizen, if you feel your threaten you have the ability to use deadly force.....You do not have to wait till they fire a shot or even pull a weapon, if you feel your life or property is in danger you have the legal right to defend both...

I have a conceal carry license, I carry 90% of the time, including in my home...

That is how we win this country back. Standing up for ourselves.

When my wife got her license to carry, she was told that, if someone were to break into the house and come into the bedroom where she was at, she could NOT shoot him if he saw the gun and turned to run. California for ya. You have to be in fear of your life or someone else's. If someone is trying to run away they are no longer a threat.
Years ago a couple in S. Calif. were getting robbed so much when they left their house that they rigged a shotgun booby trap just inside the front door. They ended up wounding a crook and he ended up with their house. As sick as that outcome is I can see where they wouldn't want folks rigging traps in their homes in case emergency personnel had to enter for some reason. The homeowners should pay a fine to the city though, not the perp.

I bought some hornet spray for my wife to keep in the bedroom. Shoots 20 feet in a straight line and will disable you. At $2 per can it is cheaper and safer than pepper spray.

very true ben, and you need medical treatment to alleviate the pain. :) Can't just rinse with water.
