Went prowling around over here today. 10 miles of bad road finished off with 2 miles of goat trail that would break a snake's back. Really pretty country and saw a few marmots out. Trying to rain, but nice weather, up in the mid 50's.

I agree with Fossis---that is such beautiful country......Its almost unreal looking sometimes, because it looks so pure and untouched by man.

Great photos! How close did ya get to the Marmot ?

They would run and hide in the rocks extractor, but if you sat real still they'd pop back up pretty close. I had to back up to get a focus on that 75-300 lens. I don't know a lot about some of the local wildlife here, so seeing one for the first time I didn't know but what a marmot might try to rip your throat out or something. I think they're pretty harmless, but that moose that chased me back to the pickup kinda put me on my guard.
