I was looking at some coins tonight and my wife comes in and hold's out her hand and says "Honey is this worth anything". At first I thought it was a foreign coin but then I saw the one cent inside a wreath. When I turned it over I saw 1858. Words can not describe how I felt at that moment. Turns out her father gave it to her along with some other coins to give to me. I did not find it with the metal detector but you could say that I did recover it and it is now going to be placed in a safe container.

:icon_thumright: Looks like large number style flying eagle! Anywhere fron $40 to $400

But I remember an old man telling me that something is worth as much as somebody else is willing to pay for it ! so maybe more

It's in better condition than the one I have. Nice.

That is a almost flawless coin :icon_thumleft: WTG keep that beauty save Dd60

Looks like a real gem. I have a feeling it was cleaned at one time, possibly even "whizzed". In any case it is a keeper for sure!

excellent find how ever you find it

My wife's father had some coins that he told my wife he wanted to give to me. There were mercury dimes, foreign coins, tokens, buffalo nickel and this cent. I will have to ask where he got it if he can remember.

Nice looking FE. Make sure you get him something nice as a thank you gift.....Matt

Sweet!! One of my favorite coins..

Large letter Flying Eagle cent in this condition would be valued at $30 to $40...and if you are considering collecting Indian Head Pennies, this would be a good filler...

Good starting point...
