this object appears to me as if the word "thomas" is printed on it and the number "16" i may be very well wrong on one or both tho. can someone identify the white substance that the hook protrudes out of. porcelain maybe? i found it while searching the are of a civil war skirmish.

then this would be my first insulator. does it perhaps screw out from the cast iron bell?
