I stumbled across this site a while back while I was googling info on vintage Fiesta ware. I was hoping you could help me. My dad passed away 4 years ago. My mom and I have been slowly going through and parting with his things.

My dad loved antiques and old things, especially antique tools. He also has things like coins, railroad lanterns, old hunting guns, books and a lot more I haven't uncovered yet.

Me... I'm an adult toy collector. I'm an 80s kid/90s teen, so that era is my speciality. I especially love stuffed animals and anything Disney. My dad's collection is out of my realm of knowledge.

I'm also an avid eBay user. Some things I've been able to look and figure out if they're worth selling. Other things, I'm not sure what they are or I can't find one like what I have.

Mom and I especially want to get rid of the guns. But I don't know what type of guns they are or how old they are. I don't know what kind of laws Indiana has about selling old guns. I also worry about them ending up in the wrong hands.

I work in a gun shop in southern Indiana. As of now it is legal to sell guns person to person but I would advise you to find a good gun shop to assist you. Some gun traders are not exactly honest and will take advantage of anyone who don't know what they have. What part of Indiana do you live, I might be able to hook you up with an honest dealer who will look after your interests.

1st - Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Forum:Indiana for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.
tn_metal_detector.gif
2nd - Swing by your local firearm shop and see if they can recommend a FFL (Federal Firearms License) holder. They will (or should) know the regulations for your State.

3rd - jump over to Google - Advanced Search and search for gun forums to ask your questions. A good starting place is to identify the make of the firearm and search for the specific forum. If you have a Smith & Wesson - the search will bring up forums like Smith & Wesson Forum, etc. Those forums will be able to entertain all your questions, etc.

I just noticed firemanphob jumped in - don't pass up his generous offer!

An adult toy collector...Sounds like fun!

Welcome, for the guns only sell or consign to a licensed gun shop.

That's the other thing I'm worried about. I don't want to get cheated either. I'm kinda in between Indy and Lafayette. Either city would work.

Left a message for a buddy of mine that just moved from Indy after living there 20 years. When he calls me back (probably tomorrow) I'll pass on any information he has.

Thanks. Would the gun shops take bullets too? I didn't think we had any in the house. My dad never used his guns. But I found a box of them out in my dad's workshop.

I'll try to start taking pictures of a few things this week.

Welcome to TNet. After you learn the real value of the guns, you can advertise them and sell to the highest bidder. Good luck.

I wouldn't know where to begin in advertising something like that....

I don't believe gun shops buy ammo.
Would love to see pics of the weapons.

Fiestaware is collectable, depends on condition, of course. Try here first

Selling guns, can't help, but the Internet can help you get an idea of retail market on legal guns.

....In fact, the Internet has tremendous amount of info about all-kinds-of-stuff, just you have to
search carefully, and don't be afraid to get real detailed in your searches.....

Thanks for the link. I was googling weather or not vintage Fiesta Ware was dishwasher safe. Google led me to an old thread here that answered all my questions.

Welcome to the forum! :occasion14:
