In digging up an old bush in the back yard I found a military button...It is about the size of a quarter and has the US Army/United States Seal on the front and "Horstmann/Phila" on the back. I know this is not a civil war era, but I cannot find any information as to the actual date...I know it is sometime between 1902 (When the Army adopted this button design) and 1935 (When I believe Horstmann stopped making military buttons. Can anyone help? Thanks.

W. H. HORSTMANN / PHILA. 1820-1850
W. H. HORSTMANN / NEW YORK 1820-1837
W. H. HORSTMANN & SONS 1843-1863
W. H. HORSTMANN & CO. / PHILA. 1864-1866
W. H. HORSTMANN & CO. / NEW YORK 1837-1847
HORSTMANN BROS & CO. / PHILA 1859-1863
HORSTMANN BROS & CO. / NEW YORK 1850-1852
HORSTMANN BROS & ALLIEN 1852-1877
HORSTMANN BROS & DRUCKER 1844-1850
HORSTMANN / PHILADELPHIA 1893-1935

But... you already have that information... :P

My problem is that the marking on the back of the button says "Horstmann/Phila." and that marking is not listed...

They were made in 1910 - 1923. On the back it just has a star Hortsmann star Phila on it. The front is an Eagle with shield holding olive branch and arrows. I have found 4 of these in Arizona.
