That backmark was used from 1893-1935. Your great seal button with the rim was made from 1910 - now. Since your button has traces of a black finish that dates it to 1910-1923.

US Army. This button replaced the eagle button in 1901. In 1910 a rim was added. They are still in use today. Your button is WWI era.
