Went on a quick hunt because itโ€™s gonna be raining for the next couple of days. So this on particular plug i cut it, get on my knees, pop it and what-a know a black snake. I took my shovel moved it to the side, it stayed, checked the hole trash and put him right back to get his sleep on. IMG_1729.jpg IMG_1728.jpg

The first thing I thought of when I saw "a friend" was a snake! Don't ask me why! I suppose deer, turkeys, opossums and raccoons would not rate as "a friend".

Cat's intuition may be right. I can't tell you how many times I swiveled right in the woods instead of left and came up with something really nice when out digging. And where I found my 2 Escudo gold coin, four people have now pounded that little hilltop. We are apparently not too good at this metal detecting thing as the last guy there got 3 screamers from the spot. Two shotgun shell bases and a large caliber brass rifle casing! All four of us walked right by them...repeatedly. Miss it by an inch, miss it by a mile.

Is that an Indigo snake? Did you get his name? Last night all I had here was a bobcat, looking at the tracks. Glad she's doing ok. And leaves my chickens alone although Scrambles the Wonder Chicken now growls at me a LOT.

just might be...they are protected in some parts of the land.
Regardless, nice save...including the snake!

ha ha, Truth nice post! Part of digging in Louisiana (and Savannah) is playing with the wildlife. That one looks like a whip snake or a black racer.

Great job with the snake. They get a bad rep, but are so beneficial to have around. The average person wants to kill a snake, but you took good care of him. Bravo. :hello2: (My brothers and I spent most of our summers catching snakes and keeping them as pets to be released at the end of the summer.)

Keep swingin and caring.

I grew up on a dead end street with a canal at the end. At a very young age we where catch eels, water moccasins, alligator snapping turtles and my favorite pets we caught Speckled King Snakes IMG_1733.jpg
