How About This Fossil?

Recently had a load of gravel hauled in on my driveway, so every time I cross the driveway walking towards the coop, I always look to see what oddities I can find. I've been a "rock hound" all my life.

I have never seen one like that. Do you know what area the gravel came from?

From a gravel pit, located about 35 miles northeast from my house. Gravel is not cheap, almost $500 for a 12 yard load.

I would try emailing photos to the nearest college that has a geology department They should be able to tell you right away what it is.

Cool Find! What you have there is a cronoid fossil.

You are very much welcome! I remember when I lived in the Des Moines, Iowa area and would always find those cronoids and shell fossils in the gravel driveways.
