To get a better idea ask this question over on the Beach and Shallow Water section...I have a regular seahunter, It holds it's own, mine has the 8 inch coil..One of my best for small gold rings, But not as deep as the larger coil detectors when it comes to the heavy men's rings, coins..What really affect any detector, PI and VLF are the conditions. Salinity of the water, temperature, and the matrix of the sand can be different from one location to the next, and as you go deeper into the water your target depth can change also.....so one beach might give me 5 inch's on a 3 gram women's ring, it could be more or less where you hunt.
