My pick up and dump banks are right next door to each other. On fridays they both close at 5, so I rush to get 2 boxes searched before they close. On fridays I get 4 boxes ordered so I do my other 2 boxes at the beginning of the next week. (I only have $500 to play with, if I had 2-grand I would just pick them all up) My record for searching a box of halves is 12 minutes. Dimes are harder to scan and nickels take forever with the dates. But I (and I imagine you guys) can spot a silver half pretty much instantly. How fast are you (sitting in the driver's seat of the car)??

I pick up 2 boxes when I get out of work on Thursday and unroll them on my drive to my dump bank that is 30 minutes away. I get the boxes searched about 5 minutes before I get to the bank.

I could do it much quicker if my car wasn't a manual transmission.

10-15 mins depending if i dump in a bucket or place in a box

Fast enough.
I would never search while driving.
One auto wreck would destroy more than I could ever gain from a lifetime of CRH.

I'm not trying to be snobbish here, just sayin' that lives are more important than silver.

I don't search while driving. Just parked outside the dump bank.

If the box is skunky I can search it in less than five minutes. If it has some nice rolls I take my time and savior it! :headbang:

So Bnicholas... I am curious, I think I know the answer, but just want to clarify to be sure.... When you say your record was 12 minutes, is that just opening them up, and throwing them in a bucket? Or are you re-rolling them back up as you go along?

3 seconds. How long does it take a detector coil to swing over a box. Seperate the clad from the silver through FBS technology. Ok, i'm joking.

1 hour for any box (except halves), but I have to count and reroll whatever I get

dimes:8-12 mins
quarters: even less than dimes

I take my time on halves since those 40%ers are ~60% copper making some of those edges tricky!! hh

$500 box of halves in about 12 minutes
$250 box of dimes in about 20 minutes
$500 bag of quarters in about 20 minutes
