How many Troy ounces of AG in a ROLL of 40% Havles, $10FV

I think the easiest way to think of it is:

One 40% silver half dollar has 4.6 grams of silver
There are 31.1 grams per oz

Therefore 20 (40% halves) x 4.6 gm divided by 31.1 equals 2.96 troy ounces

Let us know when you start to add all those solid silver rolls together to figure out your troy pounds! :headbang:

..........or for a rough estimate as three 90%ers make an ounce; seven 40%ers also do.

Happy

40% are 0.1475 Troy ounces PER
90% are 0.3617 Troy ounces PER (dimes are just 1/5th of this value and quarters are 1/2 of this value)

90% dimes, quarters, halves were all based on .7234 Troy Ounce per $1 face value

for whatever reason morgans and peace dollars were 0.77345 Troy Ounces of Silver per

I've always worked with 0.1479 t oz/40% silver half. Would need to look at Redbook to confirm this though.

or you could use a calculator and see that 20* .1475 = 2.95 .... $10 face

$1000 face bag of 40%'s is 295 troy oz.

2.95 * 100 = 295 !

Thanks Heed.

And thanks to all, interesting to see all the ways you can calculate it. Reminds me of Calculus when I was in college, always a different way to solve, and always a quicker way to solve.

Ahhh thats so cute. And sweet of you to post. Now I can use this when someone asks a retarded question that they couldve googled in 13 seconds. :sign13:

At this rate I'll be CEO of Google, all this new knowledge Im gaining from Tnet. ASU didnt teach me #$% apparently. Grasshopper has alot to learn. :-*

Well, a lot of people don't know that Google can do math for you, and unit conversion, let alone that they can do both at the same time. :icon_thumright:

After you look up the sites write yourself a cheat sheet. I wrote mine right on the cover of a "red book".

Also just look at a dimes value to figure out the [Xs] dollar value of the dimes, quarters and 90% halves.
