How Often Do You Metal Detect?

Here's a question I saw asked on another forum. It's a great question.

"How often do you get out detecting? How much time do you spend when you get out?"

I spend about 2 hours per day metal detecting. I hunt mainly mornings and so far this year I'm averaging 1 silver coin and 1 ring per 10 hours of hunting time.

i try to get out at least once a week. usually spend about 2 to 5 hours hunting.

I do Saturday morning hunts year round. The winter cold doesn't stop me, because I can hit the saltwater beaches here and hunt below the tide line, but the rain will keep me in. Now that the summer is here, I'll probably be able to get in an hours or two after work one day a week or so.

I try to hunt every day . With the long winters...I figure I need to hunt as much as possible come spring. I try to be into work by 5:30 am ...leave at 1-2 and then hunt till dark.I keep a detector in the jeep so there is no missed opportunity ! This week I was lax on my hunting as I am trying to clean house ,sheds,basement,two garages and attic for a garage sale....The Mother of All Sales!!......sell the junk..... so I can haul home more ! Haha....I do hunt every weekend on a research project tho.
In June I will be hunting a ghost town for ten days...and I better find something good.

I get out every monday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. On rare occaisons, I get out on a sunday. Come the end of may, my daughter starts pre-k. So I can extend my monday hours a bit. Yipee

Not often enough! But I try to get out a couple times a week. If I get a weekday evening then I can get about 2hrs but on the weekend hopefully can take 2-4 hrs in a morning or afternoon. After that... it's my back, my legs, my age!
Wish I could 24/7!

I will try to go out at least one time per week for a couple of hours. That is subject to change of course. Any other time I can sneak in is just a bonus.

I am retired from a real job and get out almost every day summer or winter since I follow the sun. I have to admit that I am slowing down and not staring at those gals in thongs at the beach like I used to and I just look at their hands for rings. Yeah.....right......

I take my detector with me every day and try to get out as much as possible .But it usualy turns out to be about 2 to 3 days a week .If I have my light with me sometimes I detect way into the night .I loose track of the hours when I do get the chance to get out there

How often do I get out MDing?? Once a week (2-4 hours) If I got my chores done.
How often do I wish I were MDing?? All the freakin time....I want to hit every old farm house I see..I want to take MDing vacations all over the country..I get uptight if I havent been in awhile.....Is this normal?? ....Joe

I try to get out at least once a week, sometimes more. I usually hunt every 2nd or 3rd Saturday, and weeknights after work sometimes.

We generally hunt every saturday and if bobbie is up to it we hunt on sundays as well. Saturday is almost always all day affair where as sunday it is lessor time 4-5 hours including driving time. During the week is a seasonal thing mostly april may early june on friday evening. While I would say we would hunt every day, I know that cant really happen as Bobbie generally can hunt for bout 3 days straight but then she needs to stop and rest for a couple of days.
