How old is this spoon. found in 1800s farm. But it was next to 1930s house why some dirt dosent come off? White is it black if it is $ilver plate? The silver plate is gone on the areas that are black or discolored. It's trash or scrap metal at best. No, the cut is old and maybe done by a mower or plow blade. If you scratch it good (or cut it) you should see copper under all the tarnish, dirt, plate.

Your spoon is marked ‘Niagara Silver Plate’, so yes it is what the name suggests. This was a trademark of William A Rogers, acquired by Oneida in 1929.

Unfortunately, you are missing the essential design elements from the upper part of the handle, but there are only three patterns from the Niagara brand range which could have those border ridges on the lower portion. They have introduction dates between 1922-1930:

I believe yours is the ‘Glendale’ pattern, introduced in 1930 (ie after Oneida acquired the brand).
