I found this in a creek in South Alabama a while back. It appears to be made of baked clay similar to what brick is made of. I would love to know how old it is and where it was made. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
WELCOME to the forum! What you have is a 'Frozen Charlotte' (or Charlie). They were popular between 1850 to around 1920. Most were made of china or bisque, but more rare ones were made in stoneware. Actually, half of the doll would be in stoneware and the other half glazed china, so it would float in bath water. Judging by the pics, yours appears to be stoneware, but I really can't tell without seeing it in person or closer pics. Neat find Breezie
