Hi, I found a bunch of stamps in a storage unit auction and have no idea what they are worth. They are mostly disney and tv show related so I'm guessing I'm not going to retire but I would like to sell them.

I've tried looking online for local dealers but in Alaska they dont exist as far as I can tell. Is there a credible online source where I can research what I have and possibly sell them?

Was I wrong to expect someone here to have some stamp expertise?

I can help you with the first of your two requests.
Check out https://www.stampworld.com/en/ to ID and give you the relative value of your stamps; relative to other stamps. I then take no more than 50% of their values to give my collection a value.
I chose not to sell my collection but to give a 501 (c) 3 donation to the stamp club at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.
Don........

PS: If you wish to post a couple of stamps, one or more of us on this tread can help you with the IDs.

Stamps are hard to value as there are so many flaws that collectors look out for. I had an old collection & when I tallied up the cost based on the Scotts catalogue was like $10,000.

Then I took it to have it appraised & was told it was probably $500 tops due to flaws. Some flaws are: Image crispness, was it ever hinged, any folded edges, are the coils in good shape, what does the glued side look like, is the image centered or offset, any holes in the stamp....etc....

The stamps are mostly (hundreds) of the store bought collector series and a wide variety of subjects form Blue singers, to westerns, to movie stars, to disney to WWII, etc... They are in sheets and to my zero experience eyes, in new condition. I'll try to get pics up

Thanks, I'll have to register on that site and see what I actually have.

I'm guessing I have quite a few $100's there, possible around $1,000, are there places to sell in bulk or is that something I'm better off doing locally?

Mystic Stamp Company is the largest buyers of stamps and stamp collections in the US.
You may wish to start here:

Don......
PS: Other buyers can be found here:
I sent pics and talked to them, great folks down there, they said I dont have anything special and worth only face value and they would give me about 35% of face after I sent it to them for evaluation. They dont accept USPS shipping and the cost will but too expensive for me so I'm going to add everything up and ask for best offer on bulk sale

Another choice is to use (say, 50%) of the value shown on the Stamp World site then donate the collection to a 501 (c) 3 entity and take a tax write off. Using 50% will show conservatism in your evaluation should the IRS audit.
