How to find out if land has been ploughed?

Metal detect it, that should give you some indication .

Generally speaking Conor, an unploughed field is uneven and will have rocks in it that are the size that would damage a plough. Also, the edges of a field that has been ploughed over the years will look different. The owner will normally be able to tell you.

Depends if it has ever been a crop field. If farmers have planted it in the past, it has been plowed.
