I grew up in South Louisiana with legends of treasure around our circe 1895 home (supposedly buried in a grove of cedar trees within the native longleaf pine forest). I got hooked on treasure lore very early reading a first edition of J. Frank Dobie's "Coronado's Children" (my great grandmother's claim to fame is that she went on a date with him!). I find myself just as interested in the legends as much as the treasures themselves, so I'll go out of my way for day hikes around old mines, etc. Just to walk where others walked before me, so to speak...

The last couple of posts bring up an interesting item. I live in Roswell, NM. Quite accurately, I get asked all of the time about the supposed UFO crash. Yet. I have several good friends who live in Texas, and none of them have ever been asked about the Alamo. I wonder why that is?

Excellent question! I went to the UFO museum in Roswell about 20 years ago while temporarily stationed at Fort Bliss. I went with a couple of other guys to include our unit's Public Affairs Officer and we were all in uniform. While leaving, we were stopped by a news crew doing a story on the UFO crash and they immediately zeroed in on the three dudes in camouflage asking if we had any information we'd be willing to share. Our PAO, of all people, got flustered and blurted "No comment!" Yet another sure-fire way to prolong the UFO cover-up story!
