I managed to get back out for a few hours this afternoon took right off from where I left off this morning in the pottery ink bottle hole . Things were going really slow . I found only another broken bottle probing around this hole and slowly circled away fron the hole hoping to pick up another old trashpit but in did not happen . A little frustrated I decided to leave the area and try another site about a quarter mile away . On my way there crossing a field I hit the .925 sterling Sweetheart ring 3.5gms. Once I got to the new site I saw where the recent rains had eroded a fair amount of dirt out of the natural drainage route thru the site and decided to hit the cuts . second cut and I get a huge overload tyhat convinced me it was not iron or aluminun and I poped the base to a sterling silver candlestick . I could not find the rest of it Weighted sterling marked TWR JWW Sterling weighted . So far the best guess at a maker for the JWW hallmark is JW Wolfenden before he sold his company in 1919. So I believe this silver candlestick base predates 1919 but can not find an Identical Hallmark on any of the silversmiths sites Engilsh or U.S. also picked up the brass Crusifix and a bunch of junk and clad ! Thanks for looking and happy hunting ! MaineRelic
