so i grab the ole 202 and go get the OK to hit a old 1850s homestead.. the place was hit hard before by the owner. so i give it a go any how. well i started doing my grid work and the targets were far and few but i did manage a 1947d wheat and a 72 dog tag. and a odd end or two. well then i got a good hit and out popped this crusty old watch well i saw that bright color hidding under the dirty crust. give it a rub and holy smokes its gold and fat. so i get back to the home and spent a hour cleaning it up. top ring is a plated gold. the front Assembly looks to screw into the body it is threaded. and the main case looks to be solid gold. total weight 3 ounce. gold weight I'm guessing 2 ounce with the guts out.. but this is what this hobby is all about getting the gold, silver, and relics. this is one of my best vacations so far ;D and tomorrow I'm hitting another 1860s farm house. thanks for looking and best of digs to all MR TUFF

Re: huge gold watch!! second gold find ever!!

OK its open and looks good. its a keystone case and a waltham watch. still need to get it tested to see what Kt it is. 1st pic u can see the were i picked a bad spot to show the plated top ring. u can see a red color inside. 2ND pick is a small test bore on the main case to make sure it was not plate. looks to be gold all the way thru i stopped before i punched thru the case. and it looks like the main front ring is all gold also. both will be tested. weighs in at a Lil under 1 1/2 ounce at 35 grams. from what Lil i gathered watch dates to 1924 if i was looking at the right S# number. the case I'm still working on :icon_scratch: any help or info will be appreciated. thanks all MR TUFF
