So my uncle works at a gravel pit out here in Southern Alberta and he came over yesterday to show me some of his finds...
He found a big chunk of amber.... I think its amber but it is very heavy... all the amber I have ever seen is usually lightweight.. this one is so odd...
I wonder how he could polish it to make it clear and see if we got any bugs or plants in it?

does anyone have any ideas or input?
Thanks

amber is known to Sometimes have foreign objects like bugs inside.

Maybe Something Heavy Inside it to give it weight.

Looks like Citrine or some variation of Quartz. Amber is typically lighter and doesn't feel like a rock/gemstone would. I've seen Quartz that is just as transluscent as what you have there. If by chance that is Amber - that's a heck of a chunk! Nice piece either way...

Touch your teeth ro it,
Does it feel like a rock or a pice of glass?
or does it feel like some kind of plastic?

If it feels like plastic it may be amber,
Otherwise I wold go with the gemologist.
as it could be Yellow quartz.
It could also be topaz.
or several other yellow to orange gemstones.

It could also be ...glass.

see someone who knows.
Ok
