Alright, so I haven't been on here in FOR-EV-ER! But I've been getting out detecting a little bit lately (as my schedule allows)... and I just came across something that appears to be a possible old piece. I posted it to my social media, but no one has yet to ID it. I've also been digging around on Google all evening trying to find something that might be similar.

I've only had two suggestions that I think are possibilities... one being a spout for metal smelting, and the other being a possible (old) bayonet piece.
The piece itself was found here in West Central Florida.

Anyway, I figured I'd come here and see if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks!

first off, what's it made of?
maybe a clip for a grounding rod?
Just a guess
BTW, I'm in Clearwater
Brady
Good question! At first, I thought maybe brass, since it appeared to have a patina (I've found other brass pieces in our area before)... but there's a knick on the pointed piece that seems to be attached to it, and the metal is a shiny silver. Thanks for the guess. I'll go look up photos of grounding rod clips to see if there's anything similar.

Nice to talk to another local MD'er! 😃

If it is iron then it could be a bayonet frag.

Check it with a magnet to comfirm or rule out it being iron, we can't determine what it's made of here online, you with it in your hands will have to positively determime what it's made of, you can find info online to help you to test it for what the maertial is, just research possible materials you think it maybe.

A magnet doesn't stick to it... I don't have a test kit, but maybe someone will recognize it. Gypsyheart used to be great at IDing misc pieces like this year's ago when Marc owned the site. I may reach out to her on Facebook too.

Thanks!
