Found not one coin! Here are my finds... I think the tiny item next to reference coin is a very small bullet? Has I believe two rings
Around base. Drawer pull, two belt buckles and weird badge?? Any clue on any items? The bullet was over 8 inches down!!

Nice finds. Looks like some horse tack buckles. The shield item looks to me like a horse martingale. Keep looking...I just recently found a colonial era house site and all I found at first were flat buttons. I am up to 4 large cents and a spanish reale now. Keep digging!

That P is sweet! possibly owners last name initial for rosette!

That P closely resembles a P from an 1800s police button. It could have something to do with the police. Here's one for reference.

My first thought as well. Police bridle decoration? Whats the back look like?

I agree with both! Wasn't thinking about the shape, makes way more sense!

That might be a rosette since the buckles appear to be horse tack?

I believe it may have something to do with police. I found a police button awhile back and the P looks close. :) image-649222617.jpg image-146175180.jpg

Thanks for the responses everyone! I know the house is owned by people with the last name starting with a 'D'. Not to say original owners last name didn't started with a 'P'. The badge item was found in front yard where as buckles were found in back near barn. The badge has three holes in it for what looks like tacking it to something. Attached is a picture of the back.

Anymore ideas would be appreciated! HH!

Looks like a police saddle shield decoration. Nice find.

No it's goes on the front. If you're in the saddle and look down it's there. I really can't explain with horse terminology since I have no experience with them hahaha

So look what I found on the net... Same exact design and badge looking thing but with a 'C' which has a story behind explained by my pic posted below. However mine has a 'P' on it. Any other clues people?! Thanks!!!

Actually, IIRC one of the regulars on here found that the shield/martingale-type item you found is a aftermarket piece which could be purchased for a radiator cap with your monogram on it. They could/can be found on Motometers and other styles of old radiator caps.

Here's a link to one of CBG's posts about these items, includes some pics.

wow! Mine is right there on that page!! Thank you so much!

You're quite welcome. When I first encountered pics of them being found I presumed given the shape and size that they were CW-era martingales, though somewhat strange given the variety of lettering styles and individual letters. CBG and I think one other poster jumped in and cleared up the air about them.
