Hi all,

I got the opportunity to hunt an old yard in trade for mowing it, so I spent a little while yesterday and today there..again the silver eluded me, but I had a ball getting the chance to hunt "unexplored" terrain ;D

Before I get to the finds, I made it my goal earlier this summer to hit the 16,000 coin mark by year's end..as luck would have it I hit the big 16K yesterday while hunting this old yard. My total so far in less than 22 months is 16,023 coins :headbang:

Now to the finds. I wish I had something incredible to share with you, but with the yards in this particular neighborhood, it's either pretty typical stuff, or a motherlode of silver and wheaties. This time out was typical, but I did find a few oldies.

The most intriguing find was some kind of an old compact. I say intriguing because I didn't know what it was at first. If anyone knows how old it may be, please chime in..to me it looks like something from the 40s-50s. I also found an old Timex watch (the kind you wind up), an old emblem (maybe from Girl Scouts?), a handful of clad and a couple of wheats (1944-P and 1950-D). No silver today, but an enjoyable outing nonetheless!

Maybe Bryce, but OH MY BACK!! That's what's been bothering me lately, especially on those longer hunts.

I'll never know..the coins were cleaned and rolled, then brought to the bank about once every month or two.

Thanks BB, I will! It seems there were different varieties over the years by the same maker.

The watch stem is welded closed from corrosion, but I may try loosening it with penetrating oil later and hope for a miracle ;D

Hey natman. That Richard hudnut thing is for make up and dates from the 1880. He had made over 80 fraguences and cosmetics that lasted more than a century. I don't know how old yours may be or if that particular style ever changed as I found 2 at the old 1836 house I was digging at. Congrats on the milestone your surpassed. Now that guitar is in reach before Christmas :D

Congratulations on a pretty significant milestone - 16k. Wow. I'll be lucky to hit 2000 coins for the year.

Those new properties are always exciting - the thrill of a new "untouched" site. ;D

Compact looks cool too.

Thanks Bob and minton..I run a lawn service and don't work full time (yet), so I had more time to devote to it this year..if it weren't for that and help from my better half, those numbers would have never been possible for me to attain.

Thanks..just one plug..my target was bigger than I thought (luckily it was dropped upside down - I put a few dimples in the bottom of the compact from my digging tool >:().

Thanks all,
Nat
