Last weekend I visited my parents. They have never let me dig in the yard. Anyway I decided to do just a real quick sweep and I hit a couple of good sounding targets. I told my Dad and he said grab the shovel and let's see what it is. My first target was a cool medallion. The other hit was a coin spill all dating to 1981. Clad ugh. Anyway it was fun and I broke the ice.

Must have been fun to be out there with your parents, regardless of finds. Hopefully that will get them into the hobby!

That medallion looks like a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby medal. I had a couple of those in my youth.

Ha, I just convinced my in-laws that I wouldn't tear up their yard just poking around. Understand the situation, thanks for sharing!

Keith Jackson is correct. That is a Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Medallion. It would have gone to a first, second or third place winner. Of course these days they may give them out to everyone just for participating.
