and also I found a three ringer and musket ball and a splattered three ring also a second pocket knife four wheaties a brass case with a glass perfume bottle still in it and a rectangle plate of some kinda better than nothing

Nice finds Willie. You dont usually find the badge with the gun. Are you sure his body wasnt in there somewhere ? Some desperado could still be running from the law !
