Dec 2 and the weather is still holding ! In the 50's today and no freeze up in sight at least through the weekend ! I got a short hunt in after work today. An hour and a half on a small intown wooded lot I just got permission on . Another pretty trashy site but I made a couple of finds during my first cleanup hunt there . The first find was the Standard oil sign just underneath the leaf duff ! In good enough shape to lug home . My next interesting find was the Portland Police Badge ! You don't see many police badges old or contemporary posted on here ! A nice piece of local history to find . I also found a 1909 wheatie, no VDB. One flat button backmarked Imperial treble gilt a spoon marked United Whelan Cigars and drugs ! and a few pieces of clad . I don't have great hope for this site but I found just enough to perhaps warrant a 2nd hunt . Thanks for looking ! MaineRelic.

Love the sign, and yes, like someone mentioned, highly collectible.

The police item looks like a cap device for a uniform hat.Does it have post on the back for a screw?

It does have a threaded post on the reverse . I thought it too large for a cap badge Fairly heavy Would seem to make a hat awkward ?? . I was thinking it was a wallet badge and the post held it in the wallet . I could be wrong ! I haven't researched it with the proper authorities Yet . MaineRelic
