I Can't Win

I get permission from the neighbor 3 houses down to metal detect his yard. The backyard was done last Fall from another neighbor, don't know why they didn't do the front?
Didn't much matter, it's a small front yard and the house was built 1960. We didn't expect to find anything here, maybe some modern clad.
Now here's what I have to deal with from the boy and this happens all the time.
I no sooner finish ground balancing my AT Pro and he's already digging a plug. He looks up at me and says, " BIG SILVER".
I'm thinking really? I CAN'T win.....his first hit, rang up 91-92.

1943 florin! Very nice, one of my favourite coins.

Wow! Your son must have a permanent smile lol. What was the rest of the hunt like?

Aussie, Would you please "edjumakate" us yanks on the silver content of the Florin, please? Thanks!

Deershed, Congrats to you guys on a super save. Your time is coming! Sub 8-)

Big is Nice, Congrads to him, I'm amazing how many times I walk into the water and Bam...the best target of the day, or bam near the end of the hunt, then I want to stay longer. And I have heard others say this also, Is it the same with Dirt Hunting?

I understand that, it's happened to me.

Yesterday I did more door knocking again by myself, got 3 new properties too. I also re-hit the front yard again where I found the SLQ and the hit the front yard of one of the new properties I just got permission from. At that property there, there may have been a class ring lost.
I found a few old cars, buckle, some wheats, and a couple harmonica reeds. No silver or anything special, and both places I hit were early 1900 yards.
Go home and hit a neighbors yard from 1960 with the kid and the kid finds a foreign coin .925 ?? We can be searching side by side and some how he's always on the right line? Lol

Here's a couple more pics of the kids florin cleaned up. Looks like someone made a pendant out of it.

But, you have a treasure every time that he can only dream about.

Detecting with the boy! :)

Just watch and see how many times you see the phrase, "on the way back to the car". It's phenomenal!

One of my New Year's resolutions this year was to start out walking backwards from the car, so it'll think I'm on my way back. ;)

Good grief, isn't that the truth of it. I've found several REALLY nice finds that way.

Florins minted from 1910 to 1945 were produced with a .925 sterling silver content, weighing 11.31 g (0.3636 troy ounces) with an actual silver weight (ASW) of 10.46 grams (0.3363 ozt). Florins minted between 1946 and 1963 were produced with a .500 silver content, weighing 11.31 g with an ASW of 5.65 g (0.1818 ozt).
I couldn't bring myself to melt one down though, has the coat of arms on it. [emoji6]
