I.d. help second seminole war knife

I hope someone can help me identify this knife.It looks to me like a cuttoe but Im no expert. I recovered this knife with musket balls military general service buttons flint and clay pipes. the property is very close to a second seminole war fort. any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

I do not believe there is any way of knowing any more about this knife than you know now. It doesn't appear to follow any pattern of US military knife I know of, and in those days almost all knives were hand made by cutlers and blade styles could vary widely!
 

I felt I should add.. I have since found out that 100 years before the u s military fort there was a spanish fort. there seems to be spanish writing on the handguard. I'm trying to add photos but I keep getting the crashed message. bare with me please.
 

can you make out the block style lettering in the photos I provided?
