To me it looks like the ball joint where the leg connects to the hip on a deer. I am not sure on the size; if it is big, it might be horse. Defiantly fossil. Look at the lower left bones in this picture for comparison. Looks like yours was split in half. Hope this helps!

That is a good observation. I said nothing as not to add any bias. I was actually thinking it was tortoise claw. The flat section is very ground and appears to look like hoof type material.
