That is a transitional point from Kirk Saturated to Newnan.
Some people call it by a different name. However, we've been calling them Newkirks for 25 years so there's no reason to change it now.

I've been collecting Florida points for 50+ years and never heard of that. Admittedly I almost always looked alone not with anyone so no one to hear names from. A lot of snorkeling in the springs back in the late 70's into the 80's. Personally I don't see Kirks transitioning into Newnan types. They are pretty different and distinct shapes. Also Kirks are widespread across the Eastern US while Newnans are local to Florida and a few in Georgia. Just my take on it, I'm by no means an expert.

That was his first post, and his only post he’s made are within this thread. Just seemed odd all around as well as the age of this thread being 2 years old.
