Hey all,

Just posting on here before heading off to bed. I've got work in the morning and a box of halves coming my way tomorrow when I get off work. 8-) Here's to hoping I find something good. Searched a box last week and only found 3 keepers (78D, which I needed for my book; a 2005D and a 2008D), but this week at work in my register I've found a silver quarter (1964D), a silver dime (1952D), a silver nickel (1945P), and about 5 wheaties, and one 1974S penny (I live on the east coast, lol). Wish me luck tomorrow, I just might need it! :laughing7:

P.S. I will update with my results tomorrow or Saturday! :icon_thumleft:

Hey there, Boris
What do you think about keeping non-wheat S pennies? Are they somewhat rarer than ones from Denver or Philadelphia?

To me they are, but that's because I live in Alabama. They are harder to find in the east. Plus more recent ones, are only found in proof sets. It just depends on if you feel they are worth your time to save haha.

If they are late 60s to early 70s circulation, barely rarer. Later ones are proof only.

I keep all s mint memorial pennies just because I live in Tennessee and they are hard to come by

good luck with your goals, hope they are all achieved!

Same reason here, living near the east coast I barely see anything other than P or no mint mark on coins.
This leads me to believe that any coin with an S mark is either: valuable, proof, low mintage, silver, from mint set, just S mint mark on its own!

Well, I got skunked at work and I found one 40% half in my box. Oh well it was still fun! :) Found a 1969D half and 2 1978 halves that I needed for my half dollar book.

Update: I'm at work as I write this and was just handed a silver dime for a transaction. :) Today is looking up!

Living in Tn. as well, I find the s MM hard to find. Found 2 s war nickels in my last box. Pretty far from their home.

2012 Goals:

0/1 Walker
0/1 Ben
0/1 90% Kennedy
2/5 40% Kennedy (5/18)
3/20 Post-2001 Kennedys (5/6)

1/5 Proofs (5/6)

0/1 Buffalo Nickels
1/2 Silver War Nickels (5/14)

0/1 Indian Head Penny
1/200 Wheats (5/18)
6/25 'S' Pennies (5/16)

1/2 Silver Quarters (5/16)

2/20 Silver Roosevelts Dimes (5/12)
0/10 Silver Mercury Dimes

2/5 Non-1979 SBA Dollars (5/15)
6/20 Ike Dollars (5/11)

I've gotta ask: Your 90% Kennedy goal for 2012 is one? ? ?

:o

I also believe the S mint is hard to find here. I like the mark just because it feels rare to me.

I have just started roll searching this year. I have not found anything really good yet. Lol. I will raise it as I find it.

Actually, the way things seem to be going nowadays your goal may be somewhat realistic. Silver finds are down considerably from even a year ago - non-existent almost

I like to be realistic and optimistic both, haha. I have been really lucky this past week. Usually at my retail job, I'm lucky to find a silver coin a month. Just this week I have found about 5. One a day. That's surprising, at least to me.

I am going to have a huge skunk streak soon lol. Got another silver dime at work. This is crazy!
