Well I dug a 1795 coin it says London Corresponding society on one side and the other says united for a reform of parliament .I found it about 4 or5 inches deep on a beach (fresh water)I had talked with another detectorist that was on the beach earlier that day he said his club sometimes hunts the beach .
After finding it I took it to show him and see if they ever seed there hunts there.
He liked the coin and confirmed that they do seed hunts and sometimes with old large cents and such but couldn't confirm this was one as it is a very old area .also found two rings nothing to write home about so does this count as breaking the barrier even though it's might be a seed? They seed with coins that old?

Regardless, it's a nice coin to find...

I've never seen that token before. Sweet oldie there.

You found it, it counts! Even if they planted it, they didn't find it which means it was lost :laughing7:

If they seeded it - No. If not - Yes. If you don't know, flip a coin.

When a hunt is seeded, and the coin is that old, it is usually a token or tag that is substituted with the number of the prize stamped on it. (Your 1795 coin)
That way the actual coin isn't lost in the event it is not recovered.
Great find, and chances are it was dropped and not a seed.

I would seriously doubt that anyone would think to seed with a token as obscure and interesting as that. Congrats on breaking the 1700s barrier.

If it's not a seed, it's a recent drop by a metal detectorist. Knowing that a club sometimes seeds that beach with large cents and other odd coppers for club hunts, well, I think we have our answer.

That coin was previously dug out the dirt, and then dropped in the sand, and couldn't have been there for very long. That's not beach/sand damage.

Either way, welcome to the 1700's club!!

BOY THATS A SWEET FIND ....

Great looking Conder, I'm going on the lost side of the coin flip.
