I recently posted that I'd searched $5100 worth of Brinks wrapped dimes and still hadn't found a single silver dime.

My luck with halves has been rough too, having 16 straight boxes of skunks.

Today, my luck changed a little. I bought the last 3 rolls of dimes that a teller had, and scored TWO Roosies. One was a 1948, and the other was a 1963. (There were tons of 65-69 in those rolls.)

At another bank, I bought $8 worth of loose halves, and got a 40% JFK!!!!!

I also bought a sealed Brinks box at the third bank. I can't believe how much dust and dirt was on that box, and the teller said "It has been in the vault longer than I've worked here." I was excited, but it turned out to be a total skunk.

For many that post on this forum, I know it is a tiny find equivalent to finding an aluminum can on the sidewalk.....BUT I AM THRILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well it all adds up at the end of the year. you must be persistant in order to find this stuff. I went through a $ 1000 dollar dime bag and found six , and i was disapointed with the results. But after reading about the CRH hell you have been through i will be more thankfull in the future. Good luck and HH.

The bright side is that streak would have broken any new crhers in your area.

COWBOY UP!!!

Keep at it!

Wtg on finding the silver. I just done boxes 21 and 22 in halfs and both where skunks. out of that many boxes I have only found 1 40%. I pick up 2 more boxes tomorrow can only dream about finding the silver. Maybe tomorrow will be a good day.....Matt

I give you credit for sticking with it, and congrats on the silver!

what were the dates? you putting them in 2x2's? I used to do that when I first found silver.. I cherished them like nothing else.. I still have the first silver (40%er) I found in a cardboard flip.. I graded it AU and had a computer print out slip of the year and condition pasted on the flip. After getting other 40%ers since, I don't cherish it as much anymore.. congrats.. I know how you feel.

I haven't put them in flips, but that is a great idea. I'll be a block away from the coin shop tomorrow afternoon, so I think I'll swing in and get some flips...or maybe some air tights! :laughing7:

BTW:

I was so thrilled an encouraged today by my finds that I bought a box of paper wrapped dimes today.

In all, we found a Merc :o, as well as a silver Roosie!!!!

I still can't believe my wife found a Merc. I bought a few Mercs a few months ago...but finding one in the wild is just awesome!!!!!!

Awesome find. It adds up. Whats the best way to eat an elephant? A little at a time lol
