Metal Detecting
I found this metal detecting. I had the discrimination as high as it would go on my whites 6000 do pro SL and it showed up as a quarter. It's not magnetic, it has no tool marks on it and it has shiny specks and streaks in it. It's small but heavy...I just have an iPhone so I apologize for the picture quality. Could it be a meteorite? Or just a very strange rock?

Meteorites are magnetic as far as I know. I found something last week that set mine off the same way. I have a Minelab Safari. I showed it to my club members. They said it was slag, mine was very light in weight.

This thing is very heavy and looks like a rock that's been melted. Since I don't think it's worth anything I might just polish it and put it with my box of keepers. Anyone else have any ideas?

I'm not sure it def looks like it's been tumbled in a river. Sometimes detectors just hit on hot rocks I'm sure you have some in your area, that's just a guess tho, can't see it well.

One of the pic the meteorite looks flat like coin

Based on my limited knowledge, I would say not a meteorite.

Here's a link to a photo gallery of "meteorwrongs." Lots of great info here.
