In my part of the country it was refered to as a window weight and the term "sash" was not used.

it's got a curve in it , weights are straight . my guess is an eye lifter for lifting the eye of a woodstove.

What does the inside of the curve part look like....hollowed out like a cast piece or is it solid.....is it magnetic....keeping mind that a soft feeling metal that rubs off on your fingers may just be surface rust that has oxidized
