I found this Peruvian Warrior vessel but getting different opinions as to if it is authentic or a reproductions from a couple of experts on the subject. Can anyone give me their thoughts on it? It is about 13" tall and 6" wide. Very cool looking either way. terraman 001.webpterraman 006.webpterraman 004.webp

It looks like an interesting piece. I like it!

How do you mean you found?

Actually, I stopped at a Goodwill and really liked it so of course I had to bring it home. People donate a lot of good vintage items so I like stopping by there. Never see things like this up in my area though.

Hmm.

I suppose with all the immigration we've experienced over the last few decades, there's been some neat stuff brought into the country we know little or nothing about. These things could be showing up in many places I guess. This could be interesting. Hope someone chimes in with some info. Good score regardless.

Cool figural -- and I was wondering the same thing, as to IDing it as Peruvian?

I used to buy a lot of clay Mayan figurals, both in the states (such as Pier 1) and in Mexico -- and so it being a contemporary artisan piece is one possibility. However, I hope it's the real deal and that it made it's way to Goodwill from someone's private collection (one never knows, lol -- and the fun of the hunt).

Please keep us posted as to what you find out. :)

It's got a couple of details that I like, and some that I don't.

How did you identify it as Peruvian?

I had a background story that came with the items when I aquired them that indicated Peru but no specifics. It was a fellow in this site that hooked me up with the Larco Museum, they identified them very quick as to what they were, who made them and when.

Someone told me they thought it might be Peruvian. Maybe it's not.

The Larco Museim just reponded saying It could be from Ecuador. Is not Peruvian. He said he can't assure but thinks it may be a repo.

Yeh it doesnt look Peruvian to me.
