;) Looks like African Art to me! Voodoo? I always heard Aunt Bee was a Priestess & Performed Human Sacrifices at the "Garden Club"!

Joe

You mean Aunt BEA ? LOL !! yeah she was a real high priestess too ;D

I have to go with the letter opener as well, its the perfect size and shape for one, though handcarved for sure, tough to say on the age because different kinds of wood decompose at vastly different rates not to mention any treatment applied to the wood. Very cute pics from Mayberry thanks for sharing. When I was in a college I was in a tri-state area and we caught Andy no less than three times a day,one guy I roomed with was a big fan of the show,so it was like a ritual come over to our house and watch Andy, needless to say our house was always full of all manner of collee students partying and watchin Andy. We have a Mayberry Inn restraunt in a town near my home and they have a cop car just like Andys parked out front, with all sortsa memorabilia inside and TAGS runing nono stop on 6 or 8 tvs, neat post,I think Mt Pilot looks alot like Kings Mtn down pretty close to Charlotte.

??? Hate to get off the subject, but have you ever stopped at the Snappy Lunch for their Pork Chop Sandwich? I've always wanted to.

Joe

PS You're right, it's Aunt Bea!

Hi Red, yes it is a letter opener, but does not look like what the african normally make over here, unless from the North of Africa. Here the hair is always short and the lips are always carved thick :D but it is a great find.

See you have changed you name? ::)

God bless
Peter

In support if the African letter opener (art) piece.
My grandmother has one of those, but hers seems to be made of ebony or a very dark finished wood.
She claims that she got it from a relative who was a missionary in the 50's-60's
and is pretty sure that it came from Madagascar where they spent most of their mission.
