Excellent tools for the job. The Sampson is THE digging tool IMHO. Same could be said for the Equinox and Garrett.

I have the shovel and the carrot too and they serve me well. The shovel is a beast, darn near indestructable but will not fit into a backpack; I bought a shorter one for that.

I never use a shovel unless I am in an open field or the woods. People tend to freak out when they see a shovel in a park. I use my lesche 99% of the time.
