Yikes!
I'm not sure what's worse, those or the ticks we have here in Connecticut... :tongue3:

Lol I think I'd rather get mauled by fireants. I'm not allergic and the possibility of lime disease is scary.

They learned me to stay out of thier works.
Later they set up shop in the front yard and war ensued.
Lest fire ant enthusiasts and defenders be reading I won't go into tactics beyond the mention of hot grease , gas fires, and a rototiller.
The result?
The ants moved a short distance , and an uneasy truce followed...

You were outmanned... but they were clearly out gunned.

At least you know as soon as you’ve been bitten by a fire ant. Our ticks are sneaky little bastages that can imbed without you even realizing that you’ve been bitten. It’s also been many years since I’ve been bitten by fire ants so my opinion may be skewed. I guess it depends on what’s biting me at the moment. I’ve been fishing at dusk at the saltwater when I thought that the no-see-ums would drive me insane.

Not sure about the ants....but for Ticks, Permethrin can be your friend.
Get the spray and spray liberally the outside of the garments you plan to wear in the country
Let dry overnight....no smell, and you're good to go. Treatment will last up to 6 washes before needing retreatment.

I spray my hiking and fly fishing clothes and my backpack.....external only....don't spray on inside of clothing that contacts skin. Doing this, I am rarely if ever bothered by Ticks in the back country.

Never dealt with fire ants but a few ticks I have. I've had Rocky Mountain Tick Fever twice. But getting invaded by a huge group of Tennessee chiggers is an eye opener..!!!!!

Ouch ! My daughter stepped in a batch of Fire ants, when she was 4 years old. Her leg looked like a horror movie !

Fire ants are nasty & will wait till about 100+ are all crawling on you then BAM they all sting you at the same time!

Those fire ants and ticks are nasty over here also, and awhile ago had a backhoe come in to remove a tree stump and got overwhelmed by carpenter ants

Ticks are one thing, Fire Ants once-emerg. visit-San Antonio, Jiggers now I think we're just getting introduced to them these past few years. Nasty biting blood sucking insects-starting to like the "dead of winter"

Bummer!! Those suckers will make you create all kinds of new dances!! Ouch!!

had it happen once - noticed before it got bad and only had a few bites - but they suck!!!

Scared of ticks lots of alcohol make the stinging go away from ant bites

We got all those creepy crawlies here.Ticks are not so bad but fire ants are everywhere, nasty nasty dudes! If you get an infestation of chiggers try putting plain old bleach on them, kills the chigger and stops the itch.
