I just hate aluminum.

Just a-part of Metal Detecting... You have to dig through the junk to find that good piece.. Some junky spots where you find tabs,foil,cans,etc but was once used as a civil war camp or old house site you may dig 1900s junk for an hour or two and hitting spots no other MD wants to hit cause "it's too junky" then boom you hit something good..

It can get very frustrating digging junk and nothing but junk... but if you are in a good site you are bound to dig something really good in that junky area somewhere.. My best find ever in early 2000s which was a breast-plate i found in a very well hit confederate camp!!! there was a part in the camp where someone dumped a-whole bunch of 1950s-60s junk and there were 100s of modern junk in this little area... I took the time about 4 hours to dig all that junk up and ended up coming out with my best find ever. I kept telling myself to give up, give up but I didn't..

Them abandoned aluminum trailers, crush down real good, under a backhoe bucket!

Well aware of that Hut. Just venting. Had a homesite yesterday from 1840 to present. Gave us a few silver coins, a U.S military button and one gold necklace. But someone, at some time, for some reason, somehow, caused sections of the two acres to be littered with small pieces of shredded aluminum cans that were about 3 inches down.
All in a day's diggin'!

May be to your added benefit... I know lot of MDers won't hit areas like that cause it's too much junk. After about 8th or so modern junk item lot of MDers give up and move on to another spot... Sounds like you got it down.. Good luck.

Yeah I'm getting tired of it also. The can nuggets are kinda odd, I'm starting to collect those. Some are pretty cool looking. For some reason my md will pick up tabs and junk one day, but the next only coins or big chunks of cans. But hey it's cheap but has paid for itself.
