.....I bet that 20 new people will join this week asking about copper-penny hoarding.........

Says the guy with 29 posts. :laughing7:

It's cool that you're here, but you didn't want them to lock the "door" once you joined, did you?

Not only exposing the value of copper cents, but also explained the value of pre '65 dimes and quarters...

well some other "player" leaked the information to you at one time or another -- on the "real" value of certian types of coins --- so I hope that you didn't seriously think you were the only player "in the game" -- so now just play on --thats how the game is played.

A new link on the homepage if the wildly popular page of Yahoo has exposed our great copper-penny hoarding, and it even teaches you how!!!!!! This stinks, now I bet that 20 new people will join this week asking about copper-penny hoarding.

Yes, because there is such a shortage of copper cents.

It was only a matter of time, but this has been mentioned in coin world magazines, anybody can search this up on the internet.

How many people do you think will actually go cupper hoarding after seeing the news??

It's a lot more tedious work than most think. Many people think they can get thousands worth of pennies from one bank and expect all the pennies to be copper.
Once they realize they are averaging 20% copper, and they have to dump 80% zinc, it's not as easy as they thought.

Just my .02.

Also, from a person with 29 posts, this forum is freely open to anybody, we get 5-10 newbies each week on here. at least 4-8 of them ask the typical newbie questions or make typical newbie topics/posts.

HH and happy holidays.

I agree with your suspicions that people will see that it can be a profitable thing, but once the logistics of dumping and picking up come into play, without stellar finds they will give the dream up. Just like a lot of new people who CRH for the silver!

few folks have the time , energy , drive and fiscal means to just "horde" any type of money -- cents are heavy and bulky to deal with -- but copper cents are still out there -- personally i despize folks wizing folks up on silver coins -- you know the 1970 - 1965 - 40% silver and 1964 earlier 90% halves , and 1964 and earlier 90% quarters and dimes. -- now these are getting very hard to come by as thousands of new folks try to play the " get silver for face value" game but oh well all you can do is "play the game". roll on .

Personally I just don't get it, unless you have some serious capital. But then again if you have 200,000 in cents that only equates to $2,000 and even if you sell them for $4,000 the amount of time and energy that is spent just doesn't make sense to me. The thing I don't get is that if more and more people start doing this, and if the gov't lifts the ban, the places that melt could basically set their own prices.

Think about it, if you have 200,000 in cents and you want 2x face for them, what is to stop the guy the next block over from selling his 200,000 for 1.5x face and so on and so on. Not saying there isn't some money to be made, but just seems like a lot of time, effort and money for a minimal reward at best. But that just my 1.3 - 2 cents.

You don't spend money cause you can return it.
Gasoline is not free, nor is wear and tear on my vehicle, or shorts on the coin counter. Time is valuble too. Don't get me wrong, I love the hobby, but it's rarely free :coffee2:

when one coin rolls you get say 10 bucks worth (a roll of halves) find the 2 40% silver halfs at $1 dollar face value IN THE ROLL--you replace them with PLAIN OLD CLAD HALVES ($1 FACE VALUE) THEN YOU RETURN THE $10 ROLL OF HALVES TO A DIFFERANT BANK -- TOTAL INVESTED IS $1 --FOR 2 40% SILVER HALFS ( WHICH ARE WORTH MUCH MORE THAN $1 DUE TO SILVER VALUE) -- PLUS THE 2 HALFS WILL ALWAYS BE WORTH THE $1 THATS "INVESTED" IN THEM AT FACE VALUE ALONE ( THUS THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO LOSE ANY "INVESTED" MONEY ) - EVEN IF THERE ARE "0" SILVER HALVES IN THE ROLL * IT STILL WORTH THE $10 YOU USED TO TRY YOUR LUCK --SO THERE IS "NO FISCAL LOSS"

THINK OF IT LIKE BUYING "SCRATCH OFF LOTTO TICKETS " WHERE YOU MIGHT GET A BIG WINNER EVERY NOW AND THEN BUT AT THE VERY LEAST YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK EVERYTIME . -- ITS LIKE NO LOSE GAMBLING , WITH A CHANCE OF WINNING TO BOOT.
