✅ SOLVED I have no clue - Wood and Metal object

I found this yesterday in an old park where I have found stuff going back to the late 19th century.

I think the two long metal pieces that form a sort of sandwich are copper. What is sandwiched inbetween is unclear. Could be metal, could be wood. There is definitely a bit of wood left on the ends and what look like old nails. Any ideas? THANK YOU

I suspect it is (was) definitely some sort of bladed instrument. Seems obvious now that you folks weighed in.

It's open and the blade broke. What's left is sticking out of the end. Pretty neat find!
