Found this item in the woods of Luxembourg.
The site has produced a couple of Roman coins but mostly 1700s/1800s/1900s stuff.
Appears to be brass as it has a nice green patina.
My first thought was a Roman brooch but I have realized that is probably wishful thinking.
Any info is appreciated!

Thanks!

nkellam22, great photos of an cool artifact.:hello2: Not sure what it is, but here are a few observations: 1) The long part appears very uniform and in good condition. 2) Because the long part tapers near the end, it may have slid over something or something slid over it. 3) The oval head appearing unfinished, may have been attached to something else. Hope someone IDs this for you.

It could be a sort of clothing clip. I sense maybe late 1800's, a valet or footman could have worn?

That piece looks like it could be a bayonet frog hook.

Wow! I have to admit I was not expecting to get an ID on this one but there you go. Thanks a lot, Goldiver!
Do you have any idea on the age? From what I've seen online they range from the mid-1700s to the early 1900s but I don't see much of a difference personally.

I have not found an exact match yet, there are so many varieties. I will keep looking. Similar hooks were used on short sword and dagger scabbards also.

Nice ID. I'm guessing late 19th to early 20th C. When bayonets were still very long.
