I found this today at a homesite that dates from 1700's and was lived in until 10-15 years ago. This item has a 6.5" diameter. Not sure about the metal. I think it's aluminum & not lead. A magnet will not stick to it. Just guessing on the weight about 2-3 pounds.

It looks like a smashed oil lamp...the wick would go in the spout thing, the top would unscrew for putting in oil. Just a guess.

It's a crushed oil lamp.

Thanks Creaky Digger, But I could not find no images of vintage metal oil lamps with the two smaller holes on both top & bottom. Also the top appears to be a lid that is on a hinge that opens & closes.
