Hello,

I found my first point ever in a field today (post is in Today's Finds--I'd love your feedback on what I found there as well! Here's the link: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,153679.0.html ). This got me thinking... About 10 years ago, I bought a lot at an estate sale that included a little box filled with arrowheads. Many of these were in envelopes that had old fountain pen writing on them ("found at Betty Walker's place" and things like that). There was even one envelope that said "bone chewed by my great grandfather" :tard: ) They seemed to be from the 1920's or so. Anyhow...this was in the box--although it didn't have an envelope--and I have no clue what it is. It doesn't seem like a normal point.

I don't have a clue when it comes to Native American artifacts. I'm very interested in your opinions on what this piece is.

Here are close-ups of both sides (1st five photos are one side; last four photos are the other side)

Regards,

Buckleboy

if thats real, its awesome! did you ever find out if it was authentic?

I have a lot of trouble Mailing something like this to someone that I don't know for authentication.  I would feel more comfortable with driving the piece there--but it's a long distance to drive.

So no, I haven't gotten it authenticated yet...

:-\

I wish I had more news for you...

But I am driving through there to visit the family for Thanksgiving, and had thought about taking the artifact with me...  I am going fairly close by Jackson Galleries on my way, but Davis is a bit out of my way.

Would it be better to go to one or the other?  Has anyone else heard anything negative about Jackson Galleries?

If it's the closest just try them. See what they say first. If you're not happy with what they tell you, then you can think about taking it somewhere else.
I hope it's authentic. keep us upto date.

Molly.

I hate to add to the controversy, I hope that the piece is real...Each authenticator goes by the knowledge that he or she has accumulated over the years of experiance with artifacts, plus the tools of the trade...Dwain Rodgers has a good rep here in Texas, but even he has been known to make mistakes....man went to a digsite and found five super points, sent them in to authenticater and Dwain papered each of them...because of bad times, sold them...the new owner sent them back to Dwain and he claimed that three of them were reproductions....Everyone can make a mistake.
