I insulted a 9/11 nut, and I need to apoligize? (my brother and his GF).

I called my brother the other night and as usual, he brings up the whole 9/11 conspiracy garbage. I usually try to avoid it, but this time I got caught into conversation. The phone call later ended with me agreeing to go onto his girlfriends facebook page, and see a video that she re posted, 'proving' that it was an inside job. I believe my response to the video was "Look at the guy who's responsible for this video, and you'll find someone that is globally known as a raving idiot. I can't believe you would be so --deleted-- to not question this video and do your own research". (she quickly deleted my response).

Well, today it hit's the fan. I was told that I was vulgar and insulting to him and her, and I need to give her a sincere apology. I don't know about you, but it'll be a cold day in heck before a 9/11 nut job deserves any kind of apology from me for calling them --deleted-- for the filth that they propagate. I told him be glad it's just words and not some widower wanting to stomp his head in for insinuating his deceased wife was "In on the conspiracy".

EDIT: Just got the response of "Your an idiot". To which my reply was, "I hope you'll stop thinking of me as an idiot, if I stop thinking that of you as an idiot". The family feud is on.

I would wash out my mouth with soap just in case I would assume it was deleted as it would be taken as a personal verbal assault on another person and that is against forum rules.

As far as their conspiracy theory, there are plenty of them floating around. If they're true, or not, we won't know in our lifetime..

Well, stupid made it through. I would think that --deleted-- would be a more politically correct word to use. (again the deleted word is i gnorant). Perhaps the mods need to looks at this and relax some words?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm hijacking my own post. But, I'm just torn up that my own brother is such a 'stupid' person. It's taken 9 years and he still can not believe that there just 'might' be some really upset people capable of doing this tragedy to us. It upsets me that my own brother, flesh and blood, will not listen to ANY voice or website of reason. I've given him multiple sites and he simply refused to look at them. BUT, perhaps it runs in the family, because my own twin brother thinks limbaugh and Glenn beck should both run for presidency. He too refuses to listen to other voices of reason that I point him too. His same words are "I refuse to even look at your crap". (Well, there goes my credibility).

It is a difference of opinion that you can argue about until the day you die, and neither of you will be winners. Yep, and as a open mind person, I hold this to be ALWAYS true. Heck, it wasn't just the other day when they determined that the age of the universe might be slightly older than they originally predicted (and it's always revised). But, i agree with you. However, I think what gets me the most, is his inability to openness as your suggested. I'm always open to see the truth, but he is not. That makes me sad. It makes me think (know) that our already broken family is that much more broken. You usually see this kind of behaivor outside your family. But this one hit home.

Again, it boils down to truth like you say, but sometimes the truth is not always black and white. There are plenty of gray areas and this is one of them. If you want to reach out before all is lost, I would suggest calling and agree that you have a difference of opinion, bury the hatchet, but not in his head

Some of the conspiracy stuff is very thought provoking, i'll admit, but having lived and dealt with terrorism for 30 years or so..IRA, UK and Ireland etc..i know how serious and callous they can be,and the muslim fanatics are 10 times worse!
There's a video of one of the planes hitting the towers that has a strange "pod" slung underneath it's body, something which experts agree has no place on a commercial aircraft!
Close up shots also show a "strange bright light" at the moment of impact which could not have been caused by the aircrafts nose cone.
Apparently there's no film footage of the plane that hit the Pentagon,despite it being the USA's building with the most CCTV cameras,nor any wreckage.
That's just the few i've come across,not delved too much really but food for thought. On the other hand,can't really see a reason why the government would have carried it out and killed 2000 of their own citizens plus passengers on the planes!

Mike, I've always wondered about people who latch on to some conspiracy, and it seems to take over their life. Do some reading on these type personalities. It might help you understand your brother better. Just google conspiracy theorists. I'm like you, I try to stay open to any possibility. To do otherwise feels very wrong to me. I guess it's just "hardwiring"?

In my opinion, no one knows exactly what happened and how. Both sides are probably wrong to some degree. I personally prefer to 'await further information' before making a decision. A lot of folks seem to need to make a decision 'now'. I am comfortable saying 'I don't know' while keeping an open mind.

Dano, you're losing your edge there mate but 100% spot on the it being a debate.. and not a popular one. Like I said, I doubt we'll never know the truth in our lifetime. You would hate to think that a government can do that to its people, but also remember it's not impossible. I'm not saying there was, or wasn't a conspiracy, just keep an open mind... As for those who say that this idea is absurd, I'll remind you of the Gulf of Tonkin.. Sometimes fact, is stranger than fiction.

They are just the "I have been violated by aliens" George Noory types..All loops and no fruit...From being personally affected and seeing it firsthand...I beg to differ with those who claim that it was an inside job, since most of these peoples are kooks from the other coast...see George Noory

My experience with my brother, and people that believe it was an inside job is this.... No matter how much proof you give them, no matter how much clarity and factual evidence, they will stand by their blurry photos, and use the lone witness on the street that said "it looks like a demo", despite this one person being no-body.

THIS, is my brother, and I'm sick of it. It would be another thing if I talked to him and his interests were on cultivating your own yeast for a homemade wine... but this is never the highlight of our phone call.
